Meet our Director

Nicholas Foster LL.B, LL.M 

As a qualified barrister and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP\E) with fifteen years of experience concerning United Kingdom and European Union data protection laws, including the GDPR, AVLA Company Director, Nicholas Foster's technical expertise sets him apart as one of London's leading experts in Data Protection.

Mr. Foster's analysis of legislation and case law, strategic thinking, and counsel has been an invaluable asset for clients.  His knowledge of the field and experience across four legal jurisdictions allows him to take an agile approach to addressing their requirements.   

In 1991, Mr. Foster migrated from Jamaica to the United Kingdom.  He began his tertiary studies at the London Southbank University where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree with Honours and was called to the bar in 2002.  He subsequently pursued his Master of Information Rights Laws, including data protection from Northumbria University, graduating in 2015.

 

He was elected Chairman for the Complaints Managers Group for England and Wales in 2014 and proudly served for three consecutive terms.  During his tenure, Mr. Foster established a standard by which complaints should be addressed within the public and private sector.  This standard was endorsed by the Ombudsman as a guideline for best practices. 

 

In his commitment to establishing an environment in which both business entities and consumers can positively engage, Mr. Foster also co-authored the publication Good Practice Guidance, a protocol for Local Government bodies.

Mr. Foster is the proud father of two sons with an avid appreciation for travel, and physical pursuits such as hiking, cycling, and more recently gardening.
